Masterworks Concert Sunday, June 3 at 7:30 pm Franz Joseph Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass
The music of Haydn sparkles with the love of life! In fact, it sometimes had so much exuberance (even when conveying some of Christianity’s more somber themes) that puritanical members of the church sometimes lovingly chastised Haydn! He simply replied, “Since God has given me a cheerful heart, He will forgive me for serving Him cheerfully. Whenever I think of the dear Lord, I have to laugh. My heart jumps for joy in my breast.” The great composer Mozart, is quoted as saying of Haydn “He alone has the secret of making me smile, and touching me to the bottom of my soul.”
Mark your calendar now so you will not miss Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass at our 43rd annual Spring Masterworks Concert! Founder and director Jeannine Richardson will direct the forty-plus voice Paul’s Adult Masterworks Chorus and instrumental chamber ensemble.
